Pictures of the Former Sanctuary Women's Development Center
The old pews inside of Sanctuary become makeshift beds for women who come in for reprieve.
Sanctuary provides help and healing
Mary's House is used as a food and hygiene pantry, it houses case management offices and it also serves as storage for other necessities. Space is limited and the building is falling apart.
A sign reads "No Smoking" and "Doors remained locked after hours" to prevent vandalism.
This is the full view of the inside of Sanctuary. It sits separate from Mary's House, where the case managers are officed.

One of the biggest inefficiencies is the placement of Mary's House in relation to the main Sanctuary day shelter.
The bathroom was an added on to the building. It remains locked after hours.
A space heater is secured in place in the restroom at Mary's House
Sanctuary has two bathrooms. This is is the connected to the outside of Mary House's. It is the most used restroom, since the only other bathroom is connected to the only shower.
The hygiene closet at Sanctuary is packed from floor to ceiling. Parts of the roof have caused a partial collapse in one corner of the room.

When clients arrive, they are immediately greeted by a friendly face from one of our staff members
Computers are available for women to use. Case managers also assist in helping the women obtain identification and apply online for employment.
Limited space does not properly give client confidentiality as needed. Thin, dilapidated walls are inadequate barriers for privacy.
Clients are assisted one-on-one with tailored professional assistance.
Sanctuary has one washer and one dryer that run in constant rotation from the time Sanctuary opens until the time it closes. We are able to clean 99 loads of laundry a month with our. current resources.
A client is seen washing her clothes, with the back door propped open to help give sufficient lighting.
We have one shower with a restroom attached in the Sanctuary building. When a client is bathing, it prevents others from accessing the toilet. Women are left to walk outside to Mary's House to use the restroom.
